Christmas bells

We are moving into the time of year when joy, excitement and wonder are traditionally on our minds. But, with the recent events involving terrorism and war, it is hard for many of us to even think about the upcoming holidays. While our calendars are visibly marked with parties and events, our spirit remains blank. Do we dare celebrate with everything that is going on?

I believe we must. In fact, we need to make this the year we celebrate the loudest. America now knows, more than ever, that life is precious and what is dear to us can be taken away in an instant. The September 11th wake up call came in at a volume we all heard. Its life-changing message can help guide us through these holidays if we let it.

We all have so much to be thankful for. The unity that is going on amongst Americans right now is truly a positive outcome from such a negative national event. This harmony created a feeling of connection that has been missing from this country for a long time. We are all in this together and only by helping one another will we get through this time. The love and caring we feel for those around us can raise our spirits during this time of year. This connection will help us heal. Stay close to family and friends. Savor the gifts from these special relationships and create the most meaningful holiday season yet. We indeed have so much to be thankful for.
